Your session has timed out Moodle

This is more than a tip than an article as I struggled with it for a long time. Suddenly on our Moodle installation over OpenLDAP users were not been able to login and always getting the error: Your session has timed out. Please login again, no matter the user level.

The solution is to check your default group/user Apache access. Let's say is www-data. You will need to chown www-data:www-data and not www-data:username the directory that holds your data/downloads and inside this the session folder. Don't know why this is happening but this is the solution.

Be aware that the problem might occur suddenly. We had the installation running for years and suddenly that happen. Very strange...
